Why Choose Hybrid Publishing With Us?
ASJ Publishing follows the strict criteria set by the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA). To read the criteria for Hybrid Publishers, please follow this link.
Hybrid Publisher Criteria:
- Define a mission and vision for its publishing program.
- Vet submissions.
- Publish under its own imprint(s) and ISBNs.
- Publish to industry standards.
- Ensure editorial, design, and production quality.
- Pursue and manage a range of publishing rights.
- Provide distribution services.
- Demonstrate respectable sales.
- Pay authors a higher-than-standard royalty.
Hybrid publishing companies are like traditional publishing companies, except that they publish books using an author-subsidized business model, as opposed to financing all costs themselves, and in exchange return a higher-than- industry-standard share of sales proceeds to the author. A hybrid publisher makes income from a combination of publishing services and book sales.
Although hybrid publishing companies are author-subsidized, they are different from other author-subsidized models in that hybrid publishers adhere to the following set of professional publishing criteria.

We offer authors 2 main Publishing Packages. The Standard Package for Trade Paperback/E-Books; And the Children/Cookbook Package. Both of our Publishing Packages offer our authors complete Print and E-book distribution through Ingram to 39,000+ bookstores and online retailers.
For authors who are budget-conscious, we offer an E-Book package.
For authors who want to take their book to the next step, we also offer a ScreenPlay Package, where your book undergoes a full film-script treatment, plus development into a 15 to 20 minute short film.
While being published by traditional methods may be the idealistic way to go for many authors; The difficulty of generating sales and establishing a following and a fan base proves to be too frustrating for too many writers. Some have given up while others turn to self-publishing, only to discover there are many drawbacks to taking that route. While there are benefits in going the self-pub route, there is also the drawbacks and costs associated, such as:
- Costs of hiring an editor
- Layout, design and formatting of your book
- Cover design by professional graphic artist
- Conversion cost into ePub format
- 50 – 75% royalties on Print and Digital Sales, 50% on foreign rights sales
- Marketing / promotional costs
- Narrator costs (If you want your book turned into an Audiobook)
- Time spent developing contracts with print/audiobook distributors
- Cost of getting a quality book trailer made
- Cost of setting up other Marketing such a PRWeb, Kirkus Reviews, BlueInkReviews, etc
- Cost of setting up a BookBub campaign
On top of all the above, you also have the time spent each week in marketing. An author who believes in their work will spend around 10 to 15 hours a week actively promoting their title(s). If you do not have the time to actively promote your book, then our Hybrid Program is for you.
That is not including the costs associated with getting Amazon/ VBT (Virtual Book Tour) exposure, time spent on self promoting on various blogs, podcasts, Promos on BookBub and the like.
ASJ Publishing offers a professional alternative to the option. This model has been designed by an International Award Winning author and Film Director/Producer who has “been there and done that”.
We provide Quality, Services and Expertise of traditional publishing, while utilizing the marketing knowledge that we have developed over the years to not only bring your book to the market, but maximize your exposure potential. Selling books is like any other online business, you need two things: traffic, and conversion (turning traffic into customers).

Chris’ first novel was published in 2008 by an Small Publisher in the US (Amira Press). After his debut novel was published, he quickly learned that he had to do all his own promotion for his book. Virtual Book Tour businesses were few and far between in 2008. So he spent 365 days straight promoting on dozens of blogs, live podcast shows, BlogTalkRadio, and TV shows. Not to mention heavy promotion on MySpace, Twitter, Tagged, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
Chris spent 365 days straight actively promoting his first novel, and to this day, it is still selling. And why? Because he knew in 2008, that when it came to promoting a book, it all came down to “How Much Time Is the Author Willing To Spend Promoting Their Book”
That was when he learned the truth of being published. Most publishers require you to do a bulk (if not all) your own marketing.
Over the years, we have developed strategic partnerships in development, publishing and media.
